Westcott Woods

This is a diptych painting from a trail up in Cowichan,
that leads from my childhood home to my Grandma's house up the
road. I spent a lot of time running through these woods as a kid.

"Soffione"
My new painting for the ( 24 HOUR PLAY PROJECT ) above.Artists submit their paintings to a writer in the evening, where they
have all night to write a theatrical production inspired from the
painting. They then hand it off in the morning to a Director and
actors who work all day on the production and deliver the
performance that night.
This year's writers include Adrian Chamberlain, Geoff Berner and
Clint Hutzulak. Karen Dyck and Sean Cowie lay the ground work with
their 20 minute scripts for 23 local players including Lynda Raino,
Gillian Riess, Cam Cullam, Laura Harris and many more.
For this October Play Project local Artists; Noah Becker,
Kirsten Wright, Lori Shreenan, Shawn O'Keefe, Kate Carson and
Kane Boehme inspire 24 Hour Play Projects with original works.

Summer is Falling

The days are still shining but the heat has left us. The rains are washing away the summer dust and they are predicting the first frost on the radio.

Slummer Days
Sometimes when your mind is weary from the daily grind, the best thing to do is to make it more weary with too much sunshine and a cooler full of fun. This was a little 24 hr vacation to Sindey Island with a couple of good friends. Ahhhhh much too short but, oh so sweet.

The Abracadabra Show
Abracadabra is both a local art publication and group art show inspired by the theme of Magic and Metaphysics. It is a celebration of the otherworldly, an embracing of the unexplainable. In succession to the BeCause, the Glue Factory, the Natural Low, the Feast, and the Make, Abracadabra is yet another incantation of Victoria’s young, underground arts community.I was stoked to be included in this years mix of artists.

Cheaper Show Weekend
Still a little tired today from attending the Cheaper Show in Vancouver over the weekend.
What a show! Everything about it was over the top. The calibre of work was outstanding. You kinda new it was going to be something special when you could see people lining up at 2:00 pm for a 7:00pm art show.

Great to see old friends and meet lots of cool new people. The place was packed and lineups wrapped around the interior of the space with people lined up to purchase artwork. A seemingly
constant buzz of staff dancing along the wall with red SOLD stickers helped stoke the atmosphere.
Both of my solo pieces and the Woodpile Collective's pieces sold quickly which was a nice bonus.
A huge thanks to Meghan Paterson and the rest of the Cheaper Show staff for putting on such a fun and successful event, and to those of you who managed to get there early enough and get through that massive line and actually get a piece of amazing artwork!...wow....congrats!
Below are some pics from the Cheaper weekend and a link to a short piece in the Canadian Press.http://tv.yahoo.com/news/article/urn:newsml:cp.org:20080622:TV-80541038__ER:1.
Enjoy.
I really liked these (above) paste-ups for the show. Nice work whoever made these!

Went on a painting session with friends Harley Smart
& Erik Volet to Summit Park. A nice break from the computer.
Felt great to sit in the sun and look out at the rolling landscape.
My painting isn't quite finished but I'll post it soon.

Man Cold

Caught a nasty headcold virus. Feeling like I'm on the ocean floor and my head's about to implode. Ugh. My wife refers to it as a Man Cold...because apparently she had the same thing last week but "she didn't let it get to her"...Wives are either super tough....or super disillusioned...I'll just put that out there.
